Tracks in the Snow
I’ve just got back from a walk along the stream and up the hill. It was fantastic! I think I’m falling in love with the mountains now. I just realised that when we were in the van we were mainly surviving in the Alps, but now we’re really living in the Alps and it’s great.
Simon and I took this route on a walk a few weeks ago, but it’s quite a steep incline and it was just too hard going in deep snow so we turned back quite early. Today the snow is less and harder so I just kept going and going. No one else (human) had walked that way since the last snow a few days ago so it was fascinating to see all of the animal tracks. I just wish I knew what they all were!
When I reached a bit where the path turned a bit of a corner and opened out I was stopped in my tracks and just didn’t want to move. It really was beautiful. The sky was a ridiculous shade of blue and it was soooo peaceful that I could hear every bird and every little stone that rolled down the slope. I was sure I could hear the odd animal noise too, but the tree I was peering through were just too thick.
The path has a sign at the beginning saying ‘No Entry, Residents Only’ so I half expected to come to a closed-up house sooner or later but didn’t. There was a section of the path that appeared to have been reinforced with concrete, but it must have been a half-hearted job because it had mostly slipped away where a tiy ttrickle of water ran over the edge. Eventually the car-width path fizzled out to a tiny, very steep pathway definitely not suitable for cars so I’m not sure what residents the sign refers to. I did see one though! A little goat who decided to blow his cover behind a bush to make a run for it when I got too close.
On the way back I scrambled up the stream a bit to a spot where I could just about cross on the rocks without usig the bridge. Very satisfying for some reason. That’s all. Just wanted to post my pictures and write this down before I forgot how great it was!

I think the little tracks to and from the hole are a bird who probably found something tasty in there. And the big tracks look like deer to me. BIG deer!

I envy you that walk what a wonderful experience it must have been .,the pictures were very good really enjoyed looking at them again . I agree with Bobbie I think the one lot of tracks was possibly a deer. not sure about the others
