Some van problems solved…and a new one

A very quick update because we’re parked outside a hotel to grab a quick bit of internet!  The van’s sorted with two new tyres and the handbrake cable adjusted so that’s a relief.  The charge was reasonable considering the size of our commercial vehicle tyres and we were only charged for one hour of labour.  We also stayed the night in the garage’s car park while we waited for the second tyre to be delivered today!  So if anyone visiting or staying in Morzine has any car problems I would definitely recommend ‘Carrosserie de Centre’, near the post office in Morzine town centre.  The owner doesn’t speak English, but is very patient and can usually find someone else who does if necessary.

However….as soon as we drove away from the garage another problem became apparent.  We had needed to put the generator on to charge the engine battery earlier as it wouldn’t start.  As we’ve been known to flatten it occasionally we didn’t think too much of it.  But, although it started to enable us to leave the garage, the low battery light was on.  We took a drive to the next town to give it a charge and get petrol and all seemed ok.  But now it doesn’t appear to be charging from the alternator, so we’re hoping for a loose connection somewhere and not to need a new alternator!

All else is good.  The sun keeps shining and we’re boarding without coats and getting some colour in our faces.  Snow is forecast for Tuesday, which is good news.  In the meantime we’re de-camping to Les Prodains car park where we may not get internet for a few days so no need to worry about us if we’re quiet! The sports centre car park is closed in preparation for a conference AND the internet connection there isn’t working again, so we’re off.  I hear our videos aren’t working when you use Internet Explorer but we’ll have to leave that for now.  Here are the links so you can watch them on the Youtube site.
