Review: Trashers snowpark, Avoriaz, Portes du Soleil
The Trashers park is a snowpark, in Avoriaz, on a miniature scale, made especially for kids (that’s what it says in the literature anyway). On the day I found the Trashers park it wasn’t just kids hitting the rails and small kickers, the snowpark was used by all age groups. The park is situated on the left shortly after you have gone through the tunnel on the blue Proclou run.
The Snowpark is made up of 10 modules: 3 humps, 3 green kickers, a box, flat rail, flat down box and a hip. The whole park is setup for beginners/kids so the rails are only around 6 feet long, the kickers small with a modest landing and the hip around 5 feet high.

The Trashers snowpark is excellent for young kids or anyone just starting out in the park. The button lift is very good for beginners but the more experienced rider may find it a little slow. The snowpark is less busy than the larger, more advanced Chapelle snowpark. Overall I’m sure most beginners will love the Trashers snowpark but it wont be long before you outgrow it and find yourself heading over to the Chapelle snowpark for bigger and better hits!
I love to incorporate the Trashers park and the Chapelle park into one run as follows: Go through the Chapelle snowpark hitting the long box at the top of the park then hitting the row of 4 green kickers; leave through the bottom of the park and join the blue Proclou run; shortly after you have gone through the tunnel you should see the very short drag lift to take you to the top of the Trashers park; have a run through the Trashers park testing out your new moves on the small rails and kickers; after your run through the Trashers park exit at the bottom and join back onto the blue Proclou run which has a few rollers with opportunities to practice your 180’s; then get the Proclou chair lift back to above the Chapelle snowpark where you can start over.

In the review above all boxes and rails are mentioned (1 small box, 1 small flat rail, 1 small flat down box).
If you’re obsessed with grinding then Avoriaz is your place. Trashers park is small, La Chapelle park (nicknamed ‘baby park’) is much better with bigger hits but has options for most abilities. The layout changes all the time, last year there was 5 or so rails/boxes.
Then there is the Arare park! Now thats a park. All the hits are BIG and the rails EXTREME. A helmet is a must to ride that park.
There is also a park over in Le Crosets that’s HUGE! Even has a car to grind on.
There are sooo many parks. The Stash is good. It has loads of natural hits, many different routes to take and more things to grind than you can count on your hands and toes!!
Have fun.
