Costa Brava here we come
I had to be in Barcelona for a friend’s stag do on the 2nd of may but on the way we needed to check out Lloret de Mar and the surrounding area to find potential campsites for when Aaron, Sam and my daughter Shannon came to the Costa Brava for 10 days.
Our campsite book had one campsite listed in Lloret de Mar, 2 listed in a town a few kilometres north of Lloret de Mar and 4 listed in Blanes which is a few kilometres south. We decided to head straight to Lloret de Mar though and see if we could find any more central campsites as that is where Aaron and Sam’s hotel was.
After driving around for a few hours we decided that camping Tucan in Lloret de Mar looked like a decent campsite so booked in for the night to give it a try. It cost us 16 euros for the campervan, 2 people and no electricity. The campsite had a large pool, kid’s activity pool, jacuzzi, bar, café, shop, laundry and showering facilities. It was a 25 minute walk to Aaron and Sam’s hotel and a 15 minute walk to the local beach.
The next day I had to be in Barcelona for my friend Paul’s stag do. The plan was to park in a Barcelona car park but the two we found were either full or didn’t allow motorhomes. We then spent about an hour driving around Barcelona’s busy streets. By about 7pm we finally found somewhere to park for the night – for free! - on the side of the road by Montjuic Gardens. It was almost too good to be true, but there was no sign of any parking restrictions and we found a big enough space.
Poor Lucy didn’t get too much sleep. She had to come pick me up from somewhere on the outskirts of Barcelona at 6 am! Seems I had a few too many shandies and had trouble finding my way back to the van.
