Campervan is now on our drive!

Finally we have the campervan and it actually does fit in the drive way!

Driving the new toy home took some getting used to. I’ve had no experience driving anything bigger than a medium sized family car and Lucy had limited experience driving a mini bus sometime back. It’s not as nippy as the Renault sport, there is no rear-view mirror, you feel like your arse is massive, the cutlery draw comes flying out when hitting roundabouts at any speed and the sluggish gear change takes some getting used to.

Half way home the petrol light came on. So our first challenge was to fill’er up but we didn’t even know where to put the fuel!

After the short journey home we didn’t feel ready to put down the new toy so I took over the wheel and we popped round a friend’s house to show off the van. We were driving the campervan on trade plates due to the fact it’s untaxed and uninsured so we couldn’t drive it around anymore. It took a few attempts to park in the drive way and access seems limited to when the neighbors aren’t home as we needed to reverse onto their drive before we could drive onto ours.

We then spent the rest of the night messing around with the van. It was at this point we realised we don’t have a clue about this campervan stuff. Generators, 12v electricity, 240v electricity, invertors, butane, propane, gas regulators, 3 way fridges, the list goes on… There is just so much to learn! Even opening the fridge door needs instructions!
