An update: Time is running out as the snow continues to fall in Avoriaz

Our time snowboarding in the Alps is coming to an end. Our plan is to head for Italy in mid April. So that leaves us with only 2 weeks left of snowboarding! Realizing the limited time left to snowboard in Avoriaz and the abundance of new snow, we decided to park in Les Prodains car park where we could make the most of it. Les Prodains has the best access to the slopes, the only downside to staying in Les Prodains car park is no water, no internet and no shops. Having no internet and limited power has made it very difficult to update the blog.So to bring you up to date we have decided to compose a pictorial post:

P1020080 Snow seems to be falling every day, its been very amusing for us to watch people digging their cars out of the car park and watching silly drivers skidding around in the snow without snow chains on.
P1020022 We even had to put our own chains into use. This was the first time either of us had put chains on, it was a little messy but very easy.
DSCF0858 We went to a classy (NOT) nightclub in Morzine with Sarah and Mike. Some guy passed out on the seat next to me. It was a good night though. The next day we spent the day on the mountain with them and had a great time but unfortunately no pictures as I forgot my camera.
P1010790 We have known about these mountain springs that are all over Morzine since we got here but never used them. We decided to try it out and the water is great. We use it for drinking, cooking and washing. Much cheaper than buying it bottled in a shop.
P1020139 We spent nearly a whole day snowboarding off-piste with the second half of our run through trees. It’s the best thing to do on low light days when it’s difficult to see changes in gradient on the marked pistes and your getting battered by snow and wind. Here is a picture of Lucy as we sat sheltered under a tree to have our lunch.
P1020165 Here is a picture of Lucy after falling over in deep powder. This was the first of many! It’s not easy to get back up again.
P1020169 Lucy in the powder again!
P1020205 The sky had been heavy with snow for days but finally we see some blue sky.
P1020246 Cars covered in snow in Les Prodains car park.
P1020253 More blue sky. We set our selves the mamoth task of visiting 7 parks accross the whole of the Portes du Soleil area which took all day and involved many miles of pistes and 2 bus rides. We only managed 6 parks in the and as we didn’t want to risk missing the last lift home. We plan to write a full blog post about this trip shortly.

    Hello
Thanks for all the pix. How about closeup pic of Simon? Will you be snowboarding in Italy or town-visiting? If the latter I’m sure you have guide books but I can recommend “Juliet’s balcony” in Verona (only plausible), the Uffici art Gallery and ‘David’ and the main church in Milan (all famous), and of course Venice and Rome if you get that far down.
Two friends have hit you and were very interested. I try to hit you every day.
    Regards David

    Hello,
There is an error in my last comment. The artistic sights are in Florence, not Milan. So far as I rember from about 40 years ago (!) there is also the Ponte Vecchio over the river (with shops on it). Milan has a famous opera house. Incidentally can you suggest good tourist info, eg Rough guide, Lonely Planet or Michelin? Or specialist (boarding)?
